ACESS X-Mass Community Basket Initiative
The ACESS X-Mass Community Basket Initiative is a humanitarian and community solidarity program created by ACESS – African Community Empowerment & Support Services Canada to ensure that refugees, immigrants, and homeless individuals and families in Canada can celebrate Christmas with dignity, hope, and joy just like everyone else.
Christmas is widely recognised as a season of compassion, generosity, and sharing. However, many newly arrived immigrants, refugees, and vulnerable individuals face financial hardship, social isolation, and limited resources, which makes celebrating the holiday difficult. Through this initiative, ACESS aims to bridge this gap by mobilizing communities, companies, and organizations to contribute food, clothing, toys, and financial donations to support those in need.
The program will establish ACESS Community Basket Collection Boxes placed at the receptions and entrances of participating corporations, government offices, schools, churches, malls, and community organisations. These boxes will serve as donation points where individuals and organisations can contribute:
What to Donate
Non perishable food items
Warm clothing & Beddings for winter
Children’s toys and gifts
Hygiene and household items
Cash donations
Cheques payable to ACESS Events Canada
Host Our Donation Box at Your Reception
All donations will be collected, sorted, and distributed to vulnerable families, refugees, immigrants, and homeless individuals during the Christmas season.
Beyond simply providing goods, the initiative promotes community inclusion, compassion, and shared responsibility. It creates an opportunity for corporations and institutions to demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) while strengthening relationships with the communities they serve.
Through the ACESS X-Mass Community Basket Initiative, ACESS hopes to build a culture where no one is left behind during the holiday season. By bringing together community members, businesses, and organisations, the program transforms the spirit of Christmas into tangible support that restores hope, dignity, and belonging for vulnerable individuals.
